TANDEM HOUSE | how it works
Tandem House offers mamas a safe place to land for a set period of time while they get on their feet and transition into self-sufficiency. Each mama will work in partnership with our Crisis Care Coordinator and establish a housing contract for either a 3 month, 6 month, 9 month or 12 month stay.
Each mama will pay $300 a month for her lodging - of which $50 a month will go towards off setting household expenses, the other $250 will be placed in a designated savings account for her upon graduation from the housing program. Those funds will be used to help her secure her new housing and serve as first months rent and/or damage deposit. In order to receive those funds returned, the mama must complete/comply with the terms of the lease contract. If at any time the contract agreement is broken, the funds will be transferred into Tandem's general operating budget and be used towards supporting the overall expense of the program.
Tandem Housing is an earned opportunity. Each mama will have to complete an eligibility check and complete the intake process. This requires enrollment and completion of the Life Empowerment courses offered at Tandem.
The spirit of Tandem House is about learning self sufficiency and self regulation. Mamas will be expected to live in community with the other roommates and learn how to navigate those relationships and conflict resolution effectively. While house rules will exist, mamas will be free to come and go as appropriate for the rhythm of their lives.
The house will be staffed 24/7 to ensure safety and support for all.
During the day, all mamas will be expected to be doing one of three things:
1. Working full time
2. Attending school full time
3. At Tandem receiving necessary services & training and/or volunteering their time
